Conference on new gTLDs and Internet governance in London next week


The third .Nxt conference is taking place next week (Wed-Fri, 29-31
August) at the Victoria Park Plaza in London.

The focus of the event will be new gTLDs but there will also be
sessions on Internet policy and governance. Our chair and leadership
team will be attending.

We have also negotiated a special ISOC rate if you are interested in

coincidentally, the email below went out a few hours before Kieren
McCarthy of Dot-NXT, the conference's organiser, called me to announce
that this conference was sadly cancelled.

The recent developments concerning the "Trademark Clearinghouse"  (
http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/about/trademark-clearinghouse ) which took
place in Brussels earlier this week, now point at the fact that the new
gTLD process may be delayed further, hence the cancellation while the
industry and panellists gather their reactions.

Kieren MCCarthy has not told me whether he plans to stage this
conference in the near future.

The cancellation is a shame because I was looking forward to meet with
many of you.

ISOC England are however planning a meeting soon, unrelated to new
gTLDs, with a tentative date of 30 October 2012. Please pencil this date
in your calendars.
