Whilst the English Chapter of the Internet Society is not organising anything per-se, there is understandably much concern at ISOC regarding privacy issues. For questions or comments, please contact Javier Ruiz of Open Rights Group directly. Kind regards, Olivier Cr?pin-Leblond ISOC England Chair -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [ORG-discuss] Help needed: Data Protection Press Stunt Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2013 11:26:31 +0100 From: Javier Ruiz Reply-To: Open Rights Group open discussion list To: Open Rights Group open discussion list Dear all This Thursday 25th of April at 12pm, ORG is organising a small lunchtime stunt in Central London to support our work to stop the attacks on the new European Data Protection Regulation. We need your participation. You are probably aware of the unprecedented lobbying of MEPs by big internet companies and advertisers, which has resulted in 3500 amendments to the new regulation. What started as a benign and overdue updating of our privacy framework is now in danger of becoming a watering down of existing protections. ORG is part of a coalition of European digital rights organisations that is launching a high profile campaign to mobilise public pressure and media attention in the lead up to the vote. We will have a new website where citizens will be able to send postcards to MEPs, and a report will be presented in the European Parliament. Other digital rights organisations are organising actions and stunts to help grab the media's attention to the campaign. Please help us do our bit in London. Unfortunately we cannot share more details about the press stunt right now, but if you are willing and able to take an extended lunch break on Thursday to help stop this onslaught on our right to privacy please mail me at: javier at openrightsgroup.org or call me on the number below Thanks -- Javier Ruiz javier at openrightsgroup.org +44(0)7877 911 412 @javierruiz www.OpenRightsGroup.org Winners of Liberty's Human Rights Campaigner of the Year Award 2012 -------------- next part -------------- -- Please support ORG's work - join and help fund our future: http://www.openrightsgroup.org/join To unsubscribe, send a blank email to org-discuss-leave at lists.openrightsgroup.org or use http://lists.openrightsgroup.org/mailman/listinfo/org-discuss From ocl at gih.com Tue Apr 23 21:16:06 2013 From: ocl at gih.com (Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond) Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2013 22:16:06 +0200 Subject: [ISOC-E-news] Fwd: Fwd: Cyber Security Speaker Voucher In-Reply-To: <1FD99C54-BDCE-404D-8C30-66B8CFDFFA5D@isoc.org> References: <1FD99C54-BDCE-404D-8C30-66B8CFDFFA5D@isoc.org> Message-ID: <5176EC06.4030608@gih.com> Dear ISOC England members, I know this ISOC England Announce list is low traffic and it will remain so.
