In the afternoon of Monday 7 January 2013, we'll be looking at your comments and amend the statement accordingly. Best Wishes, Olivier MJ Cr?pin-Leblond ISOC England Chair -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [ISOC-E-news] Nominet direct.uk consultation / domain names directly under .uk Date: Sat, 08 Dec 2012 11:32:31 +0400 From: Olivier MJ Crepin-Leblond To: isoc-e-news at gih.co.uk Dear ISOC England members, By now most of you should be aware that Nominet, the organisation in charge of coordinating the .UK top level domain, has launched a consultation asking for feedback on the proposal to sell domain names directly under .UK rather than the current hierarchy of .CO.UK, .ORG.UK etc. For a copy of the Nominet email incorporating all the links to further information, please scroll down to the message below. This proposed change is explained as a new service but it also has implications for current domain name holders under .UK since someone might be able to register your domain name directly under .UK if the proposal goes ahead. Whilst we at ISOC England encourage everyone to comment directly into the Nominet comment process, we are also evaluating whether a community comment should be filed by ISOC England. In the true spirit of generating discussion and finding about the opinion of our members in the UK, I would like to invite you all to record your comments on the ISOC England Web site at: http://isoc-e.org/uk-sld/ Our timetable is as follows: - ISOC England call for comments starts now - End of initial call for comments period: 17 December 2012 - Release of first draft statement (on the ISOC England Web Site): 21 December 2012 - Call for further comments, namely on draft statement: 21 December 2012 - Closing date of further comment period: 2 January 2013 - Release of final statement: 4 January 2013 This statement will then be sent to the Nominet consultation as a Statement of the English Chapter of the Internet Society, based on the input from its membership. If you would like to comment but do not wish your comments to be made public, you are of course very welcome to email them privately to: contact at isoc-e.org All comments received will be integrated into the ISOC England document without specific attribution. Our aim is to provide Nominet with a general idea of the level of support for the direct.uk proposal from our membership. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or to contact the ISOC England Leadership Team on: contact at isoc-e.org We look forward to receiving your comments. Olivier MJ Cr?pin-Leblond ISOC England Chair -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Reminder to submit your feedback to the direct.uk consultation Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2012 09:50:57 +0000 From: direct.uk To: undisclosed-recipients:; Dear stakeholders, At the beginning of October Nominet launched a consultation on the potential introduction of a new service known as direct.uk . There are a number of ways in which to respond to the consultation either by completing an online form, by downloading the consultation and emailing your comments to direct at nominet.org.uk .
